The Brief
Commissioned by A McGinn Groundworks & Equestrian Construction Ltd, The Parsonage - a historic Grade II listed property - presented a complex design challenge. The outdoor swimming pool was designed to become a central feature of the garden, creating a tranquil focal point while complementing the property's historic character and surrounding landscape.
Colour Consistency
Balanced, multi-tonal consistency across pool copings, step treads, and wall caps to deliver a calm, cohesive aesthetic.
Slip Resistant
Premium natural stone engineered with superior slip resistance, ensuring safety around wet pool surrounds without sacrificing luxury.
Wide Feature Steps
Custom-cut, bullnosed steps and open multi-level transitions designed to create a soft, inviting flow directly into the garden.
The Solution
Avery LNK Limestone
Working closely with Director Tony McGinn, Foras provided a tailored stone specification to meet the rigorous demands of the project. After visiting the Foras showroom, Tony selected Avery LNK Limestone for its:
-
Soft cream colouring
-
Natural fossil detailing
-
Consistent appearance
-
Suitability for pool environments
-
Ability to be supplied in bespoke sizes

"Foras could match every element in the same shade, which is incredibly rare and a level of service I couldn’t find elsewhere."
Tony McGinn, Director, A McGinn Groundworks & Equestrian Construction Ltd
The Bespoke Element

The pool required precision-manufactured pieces, each individually drawn and approved by McGinn Groundworks before production. The same drawings were used by our factory for quality control, with every box numbered and labelled to match its corresponding drawing. This created a precise, jigsaw-like installation process and ensured any discrepancies were identified before the stone was cut.
The Results
The finished swimming pool surround seamlessly connects the indoors with the outdoor landscape, delivering a luxurious, non-slip, and weather-resistant finish. By collaborating early with A McGinn Groundworks, every bespoke element was delivered to exact technical specifications, preserving the historic charm of The Parsonage while creating an enduring feature for the property.

"When my client saw the pool for the first time, she was completely overwhelmed; she actually burst into tears. It was incredibly rewarding."
